TiAMT - Favored Nations: The Set Up

Being a human with a still relevant games console I have of course put in the hours in GTA V, and am now on the way to 100%-ing it. So you gotta believe me when I say that this tune right here yeah, The Setup, otherwise known GTA V ending credits song is a MAAAUD TING. The song, specially commissioned by Rockstar for GTA V features a very simple drumline and lyrical content, but the way the lyrics fuse with the beat and the bass guitar, alongside some simply spectacular synths is just... it's amazeballs. Listen below:

Minor Spoiler alert: this song only plays at the end of GTA V, and on radio stations after the final mission. There are no story/plot details in it, but just in case you're hurt by that kind of thing, here's your warning.

TiAMT - Jelisa Shanel: Leave

See me? I hate covers. Hate them. I can remember hearing several covers of Usher’s Climax (a song that reaffirmed my belief in Usher until Scream, which is about as screamworthy as well, Scream) which made me feel as though I had wronged someone horribly somehow, and that this was sick, sick retribution. However when I heard London songstress Jelisa Shanel’s cover of Climax, and then her amazeballs semi-cover/remix/remixabob of Anthony Hamilton’s Charlene called Leave, let’s just say I had a totally different Usher song in mind.

Leave, which details the struggle of a woman in a once great yet failing relationship, is an emotional heartfelt melody inextricably intertwined with enough pain to make you go “mmph, I feel you girl, I feel you.*clicks*” On top of that her voice here is so beautiful if you put it in a jar and spread it on toast, rainbows and unicorns would appear and find love against a swirling sunset on it. Anyway enjoy the tune, and don’t forget to check out the rest of her stuff via her Soundcloud you great blog readers you.

TiAMT - J Cole: N*ggas Know

Citing notorious Biggie rhymes (pun intended) and emotional bravado against a bouncy, rapid beat, Cole unveils the second single off his upcoming album Born Sinner to be released June 18th, N*ggas Know. Is it me or has Cole been on fire recently? The way he's just dropping quality release after quality release makes me think Born Sinner is going to be IMMENSE.

And it will be reviewed on this site of course. Listen to N*ggas Know below... yo:

TiAMT - Joey Bada$$: Word Is Bond

As you guys know or should know by now, more often than not Joey Bada$$ + words x punctuation = good music. Again the equation holds true with Joey Bad's latest track Word Is Bond, off the upcoming Pro Era LP Summer Knights, expected to drop June 12th. The single features another exceptional performance by Joey alongside a fiery hard hitting instrumental by Statik Selektah, who recently worked with Action Bronson on the Well Done album (no pun intended). This guy though; his string of consistently high quality pieces really makes me eager to hear Summer Knights, in that OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG kind of way. I even expended enough effort to actually write down the release date on a post-it so I don't forget. Serious. Anywhizzles, listen to Word Is Bond below:

TiAMT - Zo! ft Gwen Bunn & Phonte: Count To Five

This song is so nice! It reminds me of one of those friends you haven't seen for a while and when you see them you're genuinely pleased like "Oh hi! How are you! You totally deserve all these exclamation marks! Have some more!!!!". Count To Five, the latest single by Foreign Exchange Music producer Zo! is a shining piano decorated track with ridiculously smooth guest vocals by Gwen Bunn and Phonte, and all the elements compliment each other to produce a real feel good track with a truly truly infectious vibe. Be sure to check out other choice Zo! cuts, or perhaps even invest in ManMade, his sophomore album currently on the Foreign Exchange Store.

TiAMT (Tune is A MAUD TING) - Mayer Hawthorne ft. Jessie Ware: Her Favourite Song

When you hear that amazing artist A and amazing artist B have made a song together, you know it's going to go one of two ways: self-harmingly atrocious, or OMG OMG MAH SAWWWNG. Luckily Her Favourite Song, by the freaking awesome match-up of Mayer Hawthorne and Jessie Ware falls into the latter category. Against a dominating bass guitar riff Mayer Hawthorne drops some silky vocals while Jessie handles the chorus, adding a sunshiney retro vibe to the track, making it one well fitted to the incoming summer (if such a thing can can even happen in London anymore).

TiAMT - Elijah Blake ft. Common: X.O.X.

Woiii this is such a tune, if someone played it I’d TUN’ UP (if I knew what TUN UP meant, I only recently started saying “WHEEL IT”).

Kicking off TiAMT (Tune is A MAUD TING) is Elijah Blake and Common (also the artist of a recent throwback in case you missed it) with X.O.X., featuring ambrosia vocals by the former and a potent verse from the latter. The song samples Back Stabber by The Ojays to create a head-boppingly melodic melody which contains just enough of that RnB pain to make a great love song to. While the subject matter may invoke a “well, that’s awkward” or two, the song still ends up being a MAUD TING subject to many “WHEEL IT”s, and you gotta love the guy’s dance moves, no homo.

Certified TiAMT.
