#ThrowbackThursday - Estelle ft. Kanye West: American Boy

“Humleh rock warbler.”

I don’t know what the rock warbler is, but boy does pre-Yeezus Ye do it well, I think, and he has some cool badges. American Boy, UK Songstress Estelle’s Grammy winning and most popular single to date dropped in the Spring of 2008, when the Lehman Brothers were just starting to whisper “oh monkey sh*t.” Estelle, clearly foreseeing the financial crisis and thinking it’ll make a wonderful sightseeing opportunity, serenades an “American Boy” (Kanye, though it's possible she hedges her bets by moving to John Legend too) to take her on a trip to New York to see LA (because LA is in New York, duh) and perhaps the financial carnage that would be taking place in those areas around that time.

And before someone else says it, “OMG ESTELLE PREDICTED THE CREDIT CRUNCH. ILLUMINATI ILLUMINATI.”

Anyway, it’s a magical song that fills my cold heart with warm and fuzzy pleasure and it’s this week’s #ThrowbackThursday selection, enjoy.
